NMR Tube Cleaner Part 2

Some time ago I had a post about the amazing NMR tube cleaner. I love this piece of equipment and use it regularly. However, as some readers pointed out some people are remarkably good at breaking these things (repeatedly!). Where I work now we have a workshop and the guys there create the most amazing gear for us including an almost unbreakable NMR tube cleaner. It's made from hard plastic and metal and isn't affected by organic solvents. So if you are fortunate enough to also have access to a workshop you may consider ordering one of these beauties. D!

Unfortunately, we do not have one. But I would appreciate if you could have your workshop price it for sale, or they would even consider gifting one as we have had many break...and a piece costs about 120bucks...a bit expensive.

very interesting machine indeed. how does it exactly work, its very hard to tell where the cleaning solvent goes.

is it connected to vacuum or air-pressure.

we have one of the nmr cleaning glass apparatus, which can clean 4 nmr tubes at a time, its amazing.

I'm pretty sure that the work shop won't be giving them away. It's a fair bit of work to make them so they produce them in batches for the Uni when they have enough orders in. I can enquire about pricing if you like. I know the guys are pretty proud of their gizmo so they may be interested in selling you one. Things are winding down for the holidays so I probably won't have the chance to get this done before the new year. D!

Sam, the metal tube is fairly wide. You stick your NMR tube in over the white plastic tube until it connects with the bottom of your NMR tube and you squirt solvent in between the metal tube and the the NMR tube. It is incredibly easy to operate. It's connected to vacuum and as I said you will need a sledge hammer to break it. D!

Daniel,

That would be nice. How do I contact you? If they do not make in singles, may be you can ask them to price for 5 of them. They can take their time and get them done. I will contact u once the new year arrives.

Hey Daniel,

Thanks for sharing this info... is there any way you could describe the internal structure of the plastic portion of your gizmo in a little more detail.

@WKZ, I don't know what goes inside the NMR cleaner so I can't help you out with you question. D!
