Curly Arrow - Established 18th October 2006

So I missed my blog birthday again this year! As usual the stats for the past year at Curly Arrow follows below. Thanks to all the blog followers and everyone else who is using the blog. I wish I had more time to post stuff here but running my university research is very time consuming. When I finally get home I really need to do something that isn't chemistry to avoid going insane.
However, the many posts from over the years and the many very valuable comments by the visitors makes this a great resource and forum for exchange of knowledge for students and more experienced chemists. It really is amazing how may people make it here every day in the search for tips and tricks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to those of you that are into that stuff, D!

Since it was the 5th birthday on 18th October 2011 I have decided to have a look back at how things developed in the past year.

The Coffee Break section has been updated with a new comic website called The Perry Bible Fellowship. Fantastic stuff that you really should check out. Also there's been a fair bit of activity at Electra Lady Land so that's worth a visit if your into the arty stuff. D!

Curly Arrow - Established 18th October 2006

Three years later. I'm surprised that I still manage to keep Curly Arrow alive. The reason that things are still happening is you guys that read my stuff and send me some very positive and enthusiastic emails. I'm getting a lot of hits from Google and the blog appears to have a tremendous impact. For example if you do a Google search on Click Chemistry you'll see the Wikipedia entry as the top hit followed by Curly Arrow. Curly Arrow has a higher rating than the original literature on Click Chemistry! So I guess I'll just keep at it and see what happens. I have listed the stats for the past year below. Numbers are up but the top 10 visitors (that I can identify) haven't changed much. The major difference is that the only company (GSK) is out and that Japan has made an entry. I can see a whole bunch of european networks that I get a ton of hits from and I suspect that certain German Universities should be on the list. As a consequence this year I have also included top 10 contries that visit the blog. D!

Curly Arrow - Established 18th October 2006

Curly Arrow has now been in business for two years. Things have been a bit random the last year primarily due to shifting between jobs and continents. Let's hope things will become a bit more structured in the coming year. Thanks to all bloggers for comments, endless enthusiasm and emails.
The year 2006-2007 all the top 10 visitors were from the US or UK. This year things are a bit different with Australia and Canada making an entry at 5th and 7th place and the first company (GSK) has made it on the list at 8th place. D!

Curly Arrow update

Apologies for the infrequent posting. I'm very happy to see that people keep coming to the blog despite this. So what's my excuse this time? Well I just started a new job. I have left academia (for now) and I'm working in a medium size biotech company doing some traditional medicinal chemistry to cure the world etc. However, I have been made an adjunct research fellow at the university and continue to supervise some students so I still have a foot inside the academia door. Also I have become a regular writer for the chemistry magazine published by the Danish Chemical Society which is quite exiting. Unfortunately this only gets published in danish so it won't be of interest to most of you guys. What's even more cool is that they have agreed to set up a blog on the magazines web page where the articles will also be published.
I'd like to thank people for the many emails I get with interesting questions and requests for paper reprints. Thanks for taking an interest. Curly Arrow has now been running for 1 year and seems to be a fairly popular blog (see some stats below). I've even reached the point where people are offering me money to place adds on the blog (You have to pay a lot more guys if you even want me to reply to those emails) and I have been blessed with lots of spam comments linking to porn sites (the pinnacle of my career). I almost clicked on cucumber sex to see what cucumber variety would be employed. D!
